Ten Pin Alley and Spikes Video

Last summer we provided the soundtrack to many a summer evening of volleyball over at Ten Pin Alley and Spikes. So I guess it was only fitting that we also provided the soundtrack to their new promo video. Check it!

New Venue: Mudflats in Galena

One of the things that makes us smile is to have fans of ours recommend some of their favorite places to take in music.  It was last summer sometime and at three shows in a row we had folks come up to us and say "you need to check out Mudflats".  I drove up to Galena one evening and after having quite possibly the best jambalaya of my life, decided those folks were right - Phillip Fox Band would fit right in. Well, it took us a little while but we finally settled on a date and for the first time on Friday, Feb. 3rd we'll be bringing our Country-Fried Rock 'n' Roll to Galena. Check out our Concerts page for all the details or RSVP on facebook below.

New Phillip Fox Band Merch

Just in time for the holidays, we're excited to announce brand new Phillip Fox Band merch for the whole family! Featuring three brand new designs on men's, women's, and kids t-shirts (with plus sizes too). We've even put together some items for the babies and canines in our lives.

PFB at Slapsy Maxie's

Having played over 80 shows all around Columbus in the last 7 months, we heard from folks that they wanted more opportunities to see us inside the outer-belt.  Well, we listened, and this Saturday Nov. 19th we're answering with a big show at Slapsy Maxie's near the Continent (off Busch Blvd. just north of 161 and 71).  It's easy to get to, has a killer sound system, and there's no cover charge.  And just when you though it couldn't get any better, Andyman Hopkins will joining us again on his screamin' lead guitar.

Check out our Concert page for more details or head over to Slapsy Maxie's site.

Independent's Day 2011

Independent's Day is a celebration of independent art, music, and entrepreneurship in the heart of downtown Columbus.  Kicking off it's third year sprawling along Gay Street and Pearl Alley, ID11 (as it is affectionately called) will play host to hundreds of artists from every medium imaginable, street performers from all walks of life, many of Columbus' favorite food trucks, and, of course, five stages of fantastic music.  And did we mention that this is all FREE?!

It all takes place this Saturday, 9/17, from noon-midnight.  But make sure you're there at 2:15pm for the Phillip Fox Band set on the "Athens Business Remixed Stage".  You can find out more information at the Independent's Day website, or by RSVP'ing to the Facebook event below.

Pelotonia11

As our song "What Cancer Cannot Do" makes plain, cancer has had a big impact on the Fox household. Because of our story, we have been big supporters of Pelotonia - a bicycle race that raises money and awareness for cancer research.  We have had friends ride, we volunteered for Pelotonia10, and my wife, Melissa, starts working at the James Cancer Hospital (the beneficiary of Pelotonia) next month.

Last year at The Columbus Songwriter Sessions, we met some folks from Team Ruscilli. They were touched by our song, became fans, and ultimately invited us to partner with them on a Pelotonia fundraiser. The event takes place Wed. Aug. 3rd at Barrio. Phillip Fox Band w/ Josh Krajcik Band - July 8th

We're excited to be headling the fantastic local lineup of Josh Krajcik Band and The Olde Souls and the Makeshift Band on July 8th at Victory's in the Brewery District.  Josh Kracjik is a seasoned performer having appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live and holds the distinction in my mind as quite possibly the best vocalist in Columbus.  His band drips talent and hits hard.

The Olde Souls and the Makeshift Band are coming off the release of their first full-length album, "Welcome Home", and have been a gigging favorite of ours for a while.

Victory's is a new venue for us.  It's big, the sound is great, the folks are friendly, and most importantly the music will be awesome.

Come on out July 8th, we'd love to see you!  You can find all the information on our Concerts page or RSVP on Facebook below.

Our song "Goin' Out with You" has been a crowd favorite for a while now, and the crowd last December at The Columbus Songwriter sessions was no exception.  On hand to film the performance were our friends at Nathan William Media and now we present for you, in it's entirety, Phillip Fox Band performing "Goin' Out with You":

I'm not even going to talk about how magical this night was - the energy, the camaraderie, the fun, the music.... Just watch the video and you'll see (and hear) what I'm talking about.  Oh, and I HIGHLY recommend blowing this baby up to full screen!

"Goin' Out with You" Video Featuring Chris Shaw

On a beautiful mid-western fall morning a few friends and I met up at the North Market here in Columbus to entertain the the folks who congregate for the weekly farmer's market. Chris Shaw showed up with his smokin' fiddle and we jumped into a new tune of mine called "Goin' out with You".  Give it a watch, I guarantee it'll put a smile on your face.

Chris and I will both be performing at The Columbus Songwriter Sessions this weekend, so read more about the event below or go directly to their website for more videos of the performers and to purchase tickets.

The Columbus Songwriter Sessions

An up-scale, intimate evening of music in a cozy old theater brimming with charm and character, where the stories and imagery of well-crafted songs can be taken in like a rich desert or strong wine - tastefully, slowly, potently.

This idea began as the brainchild of several successful Columbus-based performing songwriters who wanted to offer more to their audiences. First, the music had to be outstanding, so they Started with some of Columbus' most well-known and talented performers - The Floorwalkers, Jesse Henry and Great Divide, The Shaw Brothers, and Phillip Fox Band.  Second, the setting had to be inspiring, intimate, and sound excellent, so they booked the historic Van Fleet Theater inside the Davis Performing Arts Center in downtown Columbus.  Last, people needed to be comfortable, so they looked at the little things like making sure the seats had padded seats and backs and a delicious menu of hot, sweet, and caffeinated delicacies was hosted by their friends at Espresso Yourself Music Cafe.

And like that, The Columbus Songwriter Sessions was born!  The inaugural session kicks off Saturday Dec. 4th followed by a special matinee performance on Sunday Dec. 5th.  Tickets start at $10 for general admission and $15 for reserved VIP seats.  Both sessions are expected to sell out, so get your tickets in advance at www.TheColumbusSongwriterSessions.com.

Tickets available at TheColumbusSongwriterSessions.com

"Last Night Out" at Woodland's in Grandview

Woodland's Tavern in Grandview is continuing its commitment to the Columbus music scene by devoting an early evening to the satisfying subtleties of solo acoustic music.  On Sunday November 14th, Phillip Fox and Josh Krajcik from Columbus will be joined by Chastity Brown from Minneapolis for a very special Last Night Out.  Music begins at 7.  See the Concerts page for more details.

Pedal Steel, Matt Monta, and Angela Perley

This Saturday, October 2nd, the Phillip Fox Band will take the stage for the first time as a four-piece. Featuring Chris "Lefty" Adams on pedal steel, Andyman Hopkins on lead guitar and Nate King on percussion, the Phillip Fox Band has found its stride and will be dropping the tunes into overdrive for your listening pleasure.  Sandwiched between the beautiful, folksy Angela Perley and the always entertaining Matt Monta and the Hot Coal Band, the Phillip Fox Band has put together yet another engaging evening of music for Columbus.  Music starts at 8PM at The Shrunken Head (Formerly "Victorian's Midnight Cafe") and goes all evening.  See the Concerts Page for details and directions.

Debuting New Lead Guitar Player

This Friday September 10th we'll be inviting Andyman Hopkins to join us on stage at Espresso Yourself Music Cafe in Powell and share with everyone the energy and beauty we've been experiencing in the practice room.  Andyman is an accomplished country, blues, and rock musician and bring his true southern flair to the Phillip Fox Band. We've been working through several new songs together and look forward to debuting them for you as well.

Come on out and help us welcome Andyman to the family!   For more details, see the Concerts page.

Great Local Lineup This Friday 8/13/2010

We're heading back to Woodland's Tavern (Formerly "The Thirsty Ear") and we're bringing two of our favorite local acts with us.  One local musician called it a "Trifecta of Awesomeness" - we call it one heck of a concert!

We'll kick the night off with lots of new tunes and will be followed by the "Elvis Presley meets Johnny Cash" blues/rock/outlaw folk of Matt Monta and the Hot Coal Band.  But as if that wasn't enough we'll also have the icing on the cake, the oleo on the baguette, the gravy on the mashed potatoes -  the beautiful and haunting folk/rock of Eric Nassau and the 3J's.

Check out their sites and we'll see you on Friday.  Music starts at 9pm. See the Concerts page for the rest of the details.

6/21/2010 - Roots/Folk Night

I can't think of a better way to celebrate returning home from the road than to invite some of my favorite roots/folk artists in town to the most unique music venue in Columbus and play stripped down sets of well-crafted, thoughtful, original music.

We're going to have a great time on Sat. July 10th at Espresso Yourself Music Cafe and it would be a crying shame if you missed it.  Joining us will be:

For information about the show, visit the Concerts page.  We'd love to see you out.

06/02/2010 - Summer House Tour

Well, it's that time again.  The sun-drenched road is calling and some fine music-loving folks are opening up their homes to share an evening of music with their friends and family.  This year's itinerary of MIssouri, Colorado, and Utah kicks off this Friday (6/5) and as you can tell is considerably less arduous than last year's 8,000 mile adventure.

For several of the dates, the hosts have been kind enough to open the invitation up to everyone. Check out the locations and if you or someone you know will be in the area, please spread the word and come on by.  We'd love to have ya.
